Why Doing Less Can Help You Achieve More

World Champion and physiotherapist Robbie Wells shares how doing less, more often, can transform consistency, movement, and mindset.

As we get to the end of the year, many of us start reflecting on our habits, the things we said we’d do more of, and the things we quietly stopped doing somewhere along the way.

When I talk to people about movement or exercise, most will say the same thing: “I just can’t seem to stay as consistent as I’d like.”

Most of us live busy lives, but finding time for physical activity doesn’t have to be reserved for the fleeting moments of motivation.

There’s often an unseen barrier to training that can be removed by truly appreciating that less is more.

You don’t need to go to the gym, work up a sweat, or train for 30 minutes or longer for exercise to be worthwhile. You also don’t need a detailed programme to get started.

You just need to show up and commit to something small each day, even if it’s just for five minutes.

It’s so easy to overlook because it almost seems insignificant, but committing to something small builds discipline and confidence, which often leads to greater enjoyment.

The effort and challenge are less about intensity, and instead about committing to something so simple that you can do it daily.

That’s what I often talk with my clients about finding patience, joy, and self-respect through the way we move instead of purely focusing on training harder. I am passionate about sharing conversations on how small daily actions can lead to big changes, and why, in life and in training, less really can be more.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost momentum or struggled to stay consistent with your goals, I would love to hear from you and learn about your experiences and what your struggling with.
