The Brief

We are supporting a cohort of university students with managing their health and wellbeing as they progress through their studies to become healthcare professionals. The students range in their career paths, including doctors, nurses, physios, psychologists and others.

In our group discussions about what they are struggling with, they often mention a desire for insight and an informed perspective on what a career path within the healthcare sector really looks like.

As a working professional, your personal reflections on your time since studying for your profession will be an invaluable resource for these young students.

After speaking with friends & former colleagues within healthcare, I have noticed it is often easy for them to downplay what they have achieved to date in their careers. However, just a few notes on your experiences can provide direction and insight that will go a long way for a young student. This is something I would have found so beneficial during my time studying as a physiotherapist. By taking part you will make a real impact on their development and shape their futures.

I will be dedicating an upcoming edition of our student newsletter to feature the range of responses to the questions below. For your wider context, I am reaching out to healthcare professionals of all disciplines, ages and backgrounds to get their insight. That being said, if you know of anyone within the healthcare sector who you feel would provide an insightful reflection, by all means please send them this link. I am extremely passionate about supporting young students and recognise that the key is in sharing from our experiences.

"As Zak's younger brother he has really helped me with my own personal development and working out what I want to do in the future. Ironically, I am now planning to study psychology at university in September and have received four offers. I think this newsletter will be extremely powerful for myself and anyone in a similar position to read.”
